Happy New Year! I thought I would take some aspects from mid-January 2016 and offer delineations; then you can run your Lunar Returns to see which of the configurations are angular-- or you can figure that they are if the aspect combinations are showing up in your life.

1. Let's start with the conjunction of Admetus and Hephaistos. When you
take Admetus as "avoidance" or "cold behavior" and you add the idea from
Hephaistos as "poorly matched partners," one of the ways that conjunction
shows up is that a person can endure, avoid or be emotionally unavailable to
a partner with whom they don't have much in common. But if you haven't
figured this out yet, you need to know it: Energies Manifest in Every Way
they Can (while staying within their repertoire of meanings.) So,
Hephaistos can stand for the shoulder area and Admetus can bring muscle
cramps. So the conjunction can cause cramps or numbness in the shoulder
area (in part because Admetus goes to the calcium-magnesium balance in the
body-- especially when, as here, Demeter is in opposition in 27 Scorpio.
You think of Ceres and Demeter, on one level, as milk, grains, and food in
general. So again you're getting the idea of calcium from Demeter and
magnesium from Admetus.) Of course, the Demeter\Hephaistos can and will
also bring examples of important differences between parents and children.
2. A retrograde Psyche in 11 Gemini is opposing Saturn in 12 Sag. A
retrograde Psyche is often not fully aware of the importance of their
psychological history; they may repress very difficult memories or
realizations. They can profess that they went through a lot, but they're
emotionally okay... but their behavior and defenses tell a very different
story. When you pull the Saturn into the picture, the emotional imprint and
impact of the father (or father figure) is a strong part of their emotional
distress. Again, you know that the energies are going to reach into every
area of their meaning to produce events and manifestations even over a very
short time. So let's use Psyche as "the brain;" and let Saturn speak of
Aging or The Father. If this opposition is strong in your chart now,
someone may talk about how age affects the mind. Tomorrow, someone may
bring up their father's psychological or neurological state.
3. In 03-04 Aquarius, we find the medical asteroid Hippokrates with Orpheus
and Kron (which is an asteroid you interpret just like the TNP, Kronos.)
Using simple key words, Hippokrates brings up a medical concern. Orpheus
speaks of life-threatening or dying. Kron inserts a specialist or famous
person. Using just these three asteroids, you know that someone could
mention a medical specialist, an illness that may be terminal or life
threatening, and that these things are shown through (Kron) a father, a
government official or a famous person. Now, Orpheus is also music, isn't
it? And an Orpheus-Kron would be a famous or infamous singer or musician.
Such persons can also be in the limelight for you (IF these points are
strong in your chart right now.) Let me make a plug here for subscribing to
the Research Access part of this site. Perhaps you heard that Natalie Cole
(a famous singer) just died of heart failure. Were you a premium member,
you could have searched in the Medical section of this site for "Congestive
Heart Failure" or just "Heart Failure" and found that the asteroid, Brock,
addressed that problem. In Natalie Cole's chart, Brock was in 26 Gemini
with Orpheus in 26 Sag: Death of Heart Failure! And that's just a great
example of an important thing to know. While, yes, it's a lot of work to
deal with all these highly particular asteroids in a chart, what you get in
return for your effort is stunning accuracy and detail!
4. As you thought about the Kron with Orpheus, you probably also realized
that it could stand for examples of "capital punishment" because Kron can
represent the Government. Then you thought, "Wait! A Kron can be a famous
or infamous person, so with Orpheus, there might be references to a murderer
with a reputation."
5. There have been so many instances in the last two weeks of people who
"fall to their deaths." It's been a busy time for the Icarus-Orpheus
conjunction that will, by mid-January, have Icarus in 01 Aquarius and
Orpheus in 04 Aquarius. (A fall can also be shown by Phaethon.) While the
Icarus-Orpheus seems very obvious, WHAT ELSE would that conjunction produce?
Orpheus can still be sadness or even death or an increased awareness of
mortality... and Icarus supplies the idea of risk, recklessness, speed or
trying to escape. If this pair is within ten degrees of one of your return
chart angles, how many ways have you seen this manifest? The angular
factors don't have to happen to you personally. Something about their
manifestations will "stick in your mind," be brought to you through the news
or others, or somehow bring up things from your past. Which is it? And at
which return chart angle does the conjunction occur in an angular position
(angular meaning within 10* either side of the angle)?
6. In early Virgo, we have a retrograde conjunction of the asteroids Astraea
and Grieve. We know that Astraea can, among other things, speak of
difficult or incomplete recovery. Grieve will show up as complaints or
genuine grieving. So... if this pairing is significant for you now, you'll
be aware of someone who can't seem to get over a loss; their grieving is
ongoing. They aren't towards the recovery phase of grief. But you will
also be aware of people who keep complaining... and this shows that they
just aren't "done" with whatever or whoever the complaints are about!
7. It's always interesting when Toro and Sphinx come into aspect.
Mid-January, they're conjunct in early Aries. As you know, Sphinx "isn't
sure;" it's asking questions; it feels that it doesn't have "all the
information." And Toro can show up as intimidation, shows of anger and,
potentially, as threats and abuse. So the combination produces things such
as: "Are you threatening me?" and "Was such and such abused?" and "What are
you SO angry about?" Toro is football players, prizefighters and other
"tough guys." Sphinx is saying that there will be Unknowns or Questions
about such folks.
8. Mid-January finds the asteroid, Melpomene in 15 Capricorn, conjunct
Pluto! You want to see Melpomene as a tragedy or catastrophe. How are you
going to delineate that with Pluto? Can catastrophes occur that deal with
finances, debt, loans, or owing to someone's reach for Power or Revenge?
For some folks, this will manifest as Insurance issues following a
catastrophe. For others, a really strong and difficult event will "bring
them to their psychological knees and force an inner reckoning (and
awareness of who they are when most of the window-dressing is stripped
away.) How else do you see it manifesting if it's on your angles this
month?
------
If you're new to asteroids, how are you doing with all the learning and
insights? Aren't you stunned and frequently amazed? Isn't it so different
than the Neptunian astrology you've dealt with in the past?
I send my wishes to you for a healthy New Year with much tranquility of
Mind.
