The asteroid Handley can be a great indicator of cancer.
Recently, the musician, Michael Bolton, born February 26, 1953, 1:32 am, New Haven, Connecticut, revealed that he had been diagnosed with brain cancer. Natally, he has Hygiea in 20 Taurus, Psyche (brain) in 21 Scorpio, Handley In 21 Taurus and Pluto in 21 Leo. As well as other things, this axis includes natal Hades and his Ascendant. The chart is a wonderful study for Solar Arc directions per January 1, 2024. As well as much else, you see the disease having formed. And you’re reminded of the importance of the Personal Points.
Within the last day or two, Brian Barczyk, a strong Internet personality due to his reptile collection and knowledge, came out with the news that, following diagnosis in March 2023, he was now close to the end of life due to pancreatic cancer. In his chart, September 6, 1969, Utica, New York, a pancreatic cancer point, Banting, is in 00 Cancer. Likewise, Handley is also in 00 Cancer! While this is a solar chart, using Noon in the absence of a birth time, points at or in The Aries Axis are Personal Points with important impact. Just a note on his love of snakes, see the asteroid Vipera for vipers or snakes, in 09 Scorpio in his chart!
As persuasive as these examples are, it’s well to remember that Handley can represent non-medical things and medical indications for conditions that aren’t cancer. Useful terms for it include: hostile, malign, injurious and disparaging. So you could see such things in aspects as: Handley-Orpheus: to speak ill of the dead; Handley-MC: to defame or malign a person’s work or reputation; or as we see so much of these days, Handley-Hopi: racial hostility. When was the last time you saw an example of a Handley-Pluto aspect where there were attempts to defame another as part of a power play or a level of revenge?
