Uranian (dial) astrology seems to have an elitist mystique. Don't believe
it! Once you decide to incorporate a number of asteroids in your work, you
NEED to begin using a 90* dial to save your eyes & brain from rolling around
in your head to find aspects as would be shown in a 360* presentation.
Think of a dial as a round aspect grid. Let me explain.

Examine this chart. See that from 00* to 29:59* (along the left hand side of
the chart) ANY chart point in a Cardinal sign is listed by degree. See then
the Sun in 17 Libra with Vulcanus in 17 Cancer listed close together.
(So...cool! that square is immediately presented-- as are the aspects from
the Uranus-Neptune! Seeing that, you're already getting thoughts about how
the Sun can feel pressured/compulsive by the Uranus-Neptune, right?) Any
point in a Fixed sign is entered on the chart from the 30* point on the dial
to the 59:59* point. See then Russell in 00 Leo, the Moon in 11 Leo and the
Saturn-Pluto tight square in 23 degrees Fixed. Then, any factor in a
Mutable sign is shown on the dial in the 60:00 to 89:59 area. Check then
Bacchus in 01 Virgo and the MC in 27 Virgo. See also the Ascendant in 14
Sag.

Just by entering or seeing a chart on a 90* dial, you have already saved
your brain from a lot of tedium. You can go right to the demands of
delineation!

I have only shown a few points on the illustrated chart in order to accent
some dial techniques. Once you're comfortable with how points are entered on
the dial, consider the dial technique: the dial AXIS. The dial axis of The
Aries Point is shown in red on this chart. The "axis" includes the target
point, and here, that's the Aries Point, and the dial degree that's
opposite, and here, as you can see, it's around 15* Fixed, and then the two
"quadratures" or midpoints of that primary axis. Those will be 22:30* from
either side of the primary axis. Here, that looks for points around 22:30 of
any Cardinal sign and factors around 7* of any Mutable sign. Points that
are "opposite" on a dial are octiles or sesquiquadrate. (Isn't that handy to
know?)

Let's break from the discussion of technique here for a second to say that
this illustration is of the chart of Paris Bennett. born October 10, 1993 in
Giddings, Texas. Absent a birth time, I have used a "solar" (Noon) chart for
that day in the birthplace. These are rarely disappointing. As you look at
the (shown in red) AXIS for his Aries Point, let me mention that, at age 13,
this young man, choked, beat and stabbed his four year old sister to death.
He did so to punish his mother and inflict maximum pain on her.
As you can see, the "axis" of The Aries Point, a personal point always
considered in dial work, includes the asteroid, Leto, "to kill" and the
asteroid, Schneider, indicating the presence of combative psychopathy. You
also see the inclusion of Tisiphone in 15 Fixed to bring up the idea of
revenge and justice sought.

Another "pattern" to use with dial work is that of what I call the "Golden
Triangle." And what that means is that--as you can see with the double blue
lines forming a triangle on the chart-- is that you move to close degrees in
the other Modes. This will pick up the other familiar aspects to the target
point. So we go from the Aries Point, 00 Cardinal signs, to 00 Fixed and 00
Mutable. We start with the importance of the Aries Point (where we attempt
to cope with and adjust to the Outside World,) and find the volatility of
Zeus, the intelligence and shaped perspective of Urania, with the tragedy of
Melpomene. We could well include the Zeus-Beate where we would find an anger
manifesting in the harm of punching type behavior.

Then we move to 00 Fixed and we find Russell that indicates the use of a
knife in 00 Leo. (Here, the Triangle has picked up the trine of Russell to
points at the Aries point.) To complete our "Golden Triangle," we stare at
points in 00 Mutable where we find: Hopi, Psyche, Bacchus, Astraea and
Demeter. These asteroids introduce the themes of attack, emotional stress,
(Bacchus) drugs, the idea that one is (Astraea) not recovered and the
presence of Demeter, the mother and/or the ability to feel "taken care of."
Do I need to explain that the attack (that included a fatal stabbing,) was
in reaction to the fact that the (Demeter) mother, who HAD been in drug
recovery-- but: Astraea: obviously not really "over it," had gone back to
drug (cocaine) use. Killing the little sister was about punishing the
mother.

Where points entered together on the dial pick up conjunctions, squares and
oppositions, the axis and Golden Triangle grab other aspects you're familiar
with.

This is the chart of Paris Bennett, b. October 10, 1993 in Giddings, Texas.
The Moon and Angles you see on the chart are "solar" (Noon for the birth
date, and often the solar chart is very useful.) At age 13, Paris, beat,
choked/attempted to strangle, and finally fatally stabbed his 4 year old
little sister. He said that he did it to inflict maximum pain on his mother
who had returned to serious drug use.

Other patterns are apparent in the chart. See Leto in 21 Cancer to Post in
21 Leo (where there can be morbid ideation and images of death and horror)
to Fricke and Partridge (psychopathy evident even in childhood and
sociopathic inclinations) in 21 Mutable/Sag.
You may want to consider how the "serious" medical asteroids lend detail and
credence to the Mars-Moon-Mercury with Nemesis that you see in 09 to 12*
Fixed.

As you study this chart, you may lock into the axis of the solar ASC. In
dial parlance, we'd say, ASC = Russell = Post. Can you delineate that? Can
you see why we can use the shortcut terminology of "="?
There are other techniques, such as midpoints and formulas, but if you get
this basic way of using a dial, you've made an important step.
(Dials and dial methods and examples are used in the monthly print
newsletter, "Tools of the Trade," from Treehouse Mountain. The techniques
include solar arc directions and the use of the dial for other predictive
methods. Where points such as Leto, Stichius, Post and Schneider are used
in this example, those kinds of asteroids, plus hundreds more, can be found
and easily located in the Medical and Crime Research Access areas of this
website. If this type of information interests you, join us!)
I should mention that the Aspects area of the Research Access part of this
website, opens to more than 4000 aspect delineations for planets,
TNPs and asteroids. And these are usually lengthy comments, not just a
sentence. Are you interested in the ways that a Hades-Phaethon can manifest?
Sure, it can be "an old car or problems with a car," but did you think about
the fact that it can turn up in events as "getting more than you bargained
for" in a really bad way or for things that you failed to do?
While we're taking a commercial break, for the use of a Working Dial to
eliminate the math of midpoints and formulas or more sophisticated dial
techniques, there are books and tapes-- please see descriptions in the shop!

Hey-- take care!
